Beginer's paragliding course.

Elementary Pilot Course.

Paragliding is about as close as you can possibly get to the ultimate dream of free flight! The Elementary Pilot Certificate (EPC) is the first qualification and upon successful completion you will be qualified to fly solo under the supervision of an instructor! The course is great fun and you will learn about the equipment, safety, weather and, of course....flying! The follow up course to the EPC is the CPC after which you will be qualified to fly independently.

BEGINNER'S PARAGLIDING COURSE.

If you have the desire to learn how to fly, this course is ideal for a first timer who wants a good solid basis in which to learn this incredible sport. It will provide you with the first structured training enabling you to fly under the direct supervision of an instructor. Practical training covers a large part of this course and by the second day you will begin flying solo. Safety and theory is taught before and after flights. We use the best wings for beginner, giving you the best start possibly.

All flights are made with supervision and constant radio contact with your instructors. All equipment is included. No previous experience is needed.

We will provide you the paraglider, harness, helmet and radios during the lesson. No special clothing is required, although we do suggest that you wear long pants and comfortable running shoes that provide some ankle support. It's also a good idea to bring some drinking water with you.

People are different and their progress in paragliding varies, our 6 days training program is flexible and personalized to fit your needs. Weather is a key factor for all kinds of aviation, in most cases you should expect the following training program:

We follow the British syllabus in parallel with Spanish syllabus and some, which should take roughly 3- 4 full days but with weather on our side and more days available to teach we aim to get you to a higher than usual standard.

  • Day 1: basic theory of aerodynamics and paraglider's construction; introduction to paragliding equipment and checks; ground practicing ready for take off, controlling and landing a paraglider; first flights from the training hill (5-10 m)
  • Day 2: Some top to bottom flights from the training hill (20-30 m): forward launch, learning to control the glider in the air and attempt a landing approach.
  • Day 3: Some top to bottom flights from the training hill (50-100 m): forward reversed launch; better control and landings; more theory of aerodynamics and rules of the air.
  • Day 4: instruction of reserve parachute use; first big solo flights(>100 m): building sense of height, speed and distance; performing real landing approaches.
  • Day 5 & 6: solo flights from the high mountain (300 m); improving the landing approaches and correcting the mistakes.

* the number of your flights depends on the judgment of your instructor, your progress and the prevailing weather conditions. The Beginner's course corresponds to the international FAI/ParaPro2, the UK BHPA/ElementaryPilot.

TRIP TO ANDALUCIA AND TRANSPORTATION TO THE AIRPORT.

Trip to Andalucía is not included in the packaged. You have to arrange it on your own the air ticket to Andalusia (south of Spain). There are many companies that fly here, some of them at very competitive prices (We have founded some tickets for 7€ !!). Look at www.easyjet.com, www.ryanair.com. The local airports are Sevilla, Málaga or Jerez.

From the minute you land in Spain we will take care of everything, we will pick you up on arrival and we will stay with you until we deliver you to the airport. Go up.

LODGING:

The package includes lodgings in typical country houses in the town. We have apartments with double rooms for 2,4, 6 people. Go up.

LUNCH.

There are many bars and cafes known as ventas near our flying sites, most situated in remote villages. Here you will get the chance to try out traditional Andalusian food such as Tapas, lunches will cost you as little as 6-10euros. Go up.

TRANSPORTATION TO THE FLYING ZONES.

We have fully equipped vehicles and 4x4 cars air conditioned to reach the take off and landing sites. We try to fly several times a day... We want you to enjoy your time here as much as possible. Go up.

LICENSE & INSURANCE.

Included in the price, you have a license for flying and an accident and civil responsability insurances, but You must have an accident insurance E1.11 full rescue/repatriation cover - specific to paragliding.

The E111 has been replaced with the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) with effect from the 01 January 2006. EHIC: free or reduced cost treatment. A European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) entitles you to reduced-cost, sometimes free, medical treatment that becomes necessary while you're in a European Economic Area (EEA) country or Switzerland. We can request IPPI Card for you, if you want it (not incluyed in the price, 35€). Go up.

ALTERNATIVES ACTIVITIES.

In the rare event of bad weather and the in ability to fly, we have some alternative activities to keep you entertained with no aditional costs:

  • Touristic Routes, throughout typical white villages all over the Sierra, with visits to museums, Natural Parks, Gastronomic Stops,...
  • Visits to the nearest cities : Cadiz, Sevilla, Ronda, all of great turistic interest.
  • Archeologic tours. In the nearby areas there are many remains of passed cultures such as Phoenicians, Romans, Arabs...
  • Treking: There are a lot of routes throught Grazalema's Nathural Park with amazings landscapes, animals and forests.
  • Mountain bike: You can hire bikes to cross the routes through the N.P. One of which is an old disused railway with tunnels, bridges, stationts,... and of course always a restaurant to end your ride.!
  • Canoe : You can also rent canoes enjoying the nearby lakes of Zahara.

  • YOUR HEALTH Climbing the 40m high training hill with equipment during the first day is unavoidable and requires a level of fitness. If in doubt please consult your doctor.
